Mooresville, NC (February 13, 2013) After finishing second by only a car length Monday night, Scott Bloomquist pulled out all the stops on Tuesday to earn his sixth win at East Bay Raceway Park in the DART WinterNationals.
Bloomquist finished first in his heat race and started on the pole with his Roush Yates 436 Ford Dirt Late Model Engine at East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Fl. Leading flag to flag, he survived a green-white-checkered finish pulling ahead of Don O’Neal for the $5,000 victory. Monday night’s winner, Dennis Erb Jr., finished fourth.
“We were pretty close last night, just needed to be a little quicker and we got it with our Roush Yates horsepower,” said Bloomquist. “I think we can even get a little quicker, so we’ll just keep working on it.”
Bloomquist’s victory ties him for fourth on the all time win list for the WinterNationals. The win was the 46th of his career in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
“The car has been spectacular all week! Tonight we got off to another great start and were able to capitalize on starting on the pole,” said the 2-time Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Champion. “Last year we were a little bit off. For a lot of drivers, it would have been a good year, but not for us. We have recently regrouped a little bit and the changes have meshed well together.”
Bloomquist Chassis and Roush Yates Engines now lead the DART WinterNationals standings with more races to come on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at East Bay Raceway Park.
